A Very Liverpool Love Story

A moving play telling the love story of Liverpool poet and activist Sandra Richardson who died in 2021 and her wife artist Clare Beloved. Words were gathered from Sandras writings while in Marie Curie Hospice and Clares diary during her illness and death.

“We write these words to remind ourselves. To ease the howling pain. To share some of our life together. To let you know some of what is deeply lost and some of what can never be lost when we remember.”

“San, who has never cried in her life, cries all the time and tells me she’s going to die. She can feel it and she’s not ready and she’s scared. I rock and soothe and sing silly lullabies out of tune. She’s in pain, she can’t eat really and people keep giving me all kinds of advice, telling me to try her on small pieces of white fish ... I can’t explain to them that I’m not the kind of girl to be cooking bloody white fish.”
